Complete ring magnets made of neodymium and magnetised with a multipole magnetisation can be used instead of the traditional use of segment magnets (segments of a ring). Many benefits are obtained by using a ring magnet, including a lesser thickness of below 3-4mm and the magnetic field is better and more uniform, allowing the motor to function better.
As a ring is complete, compared with segments, dimensional mechanical tolerances are improved and pole flux readings are also more uniform.
These benefits lead to significant cost-savings in the rotor manufacture and no need for protective bodies around the rings or extra rings.
